Most driveway jobs start one of two ways, an old slab that's cracked, sunk or gone patchy over the years, or a bare stretch in front of a new build that needs a proper surface before anything else gets finished. We dig out and prep the base properly first, since that's where most early driveway failures actually start, then pour with the concrete strength and reinforcement the job calls for. A lot of this part of Sydney sits on reactive clay, ground that expands and contracts with the seasons and puts real stress on a driveway that wasn't prepped for it. We build for that ground condition rather than just pouring and hoping, in a plain broom finish or exposed aggregate, whichever suits the way the driveway will actually be used.

Exposed Aggregate Concrete
Exposed aggregate gets picked for two reasons, the textured look and the grip. It's a popular choice for driveways and pool surrounds because the exposed stone gives a non-slip surface, and the finish shows less wear over time than a plain grey slab. We mix, pour and expose it properly so the stone sits even across the whole surface, not patchy in some spots and buried in others.

A slab job usually comes down to what's going on top of it, a shed, a carport, an extension, or a workshop floor. We set the levels and reinforcement to suit that end use, so the slab holds up under whatever load it's built for rather than being a generic pour.
